Laguna Beach 16, Laguna Hills 10--The Artists, despite losing five fumbles, defeated the Hawks at Mission Viejo High to improve to 2-1 and 7-1. Laguna Hills held Laguna Beach's Jonathon Todd to 83 yards in 18 carries. Todd had touchdown runs of 40 and 43 yards called back because of penalties.

Artist quarterback Danny Lane completed 13 of 17 passes for 192 yards. Laguna Beach scored in the first quarter on a 10-yard run by Todd. Kim Dennis' extra-point kick made it 7-0. Brian Fleming's 40-yard field goal narrowed the score to 7-3.

Laguna Beach then scored a safety in the second quarter when a bad snap on a punt rolled out of the end zone.

Matt Perry, a Laguna Beach linebacker, recovered a blocked punt in the Laguna Hills end zone for the Artists' final touchdown with 7:28 left. Dennis' kick made it 16-3.
