The California Council of the American Institute of Architects will sponsor a conference geared toward issues facing the state's architects, Thursday through next Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Monterey.

Richard Seth Hayden of New York-based Swanke Hayden Connell, the architectural firm that handled the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, will give a free public lecture Saturday, describing the statue's restoration process.

Registration for the conference is $210 for AIA members, $55 for student members and $260 for non-members. More information may be obtained from the CCAIA, 1303 J St., Suite 200, Sacramento 95814.
