BRIEFLY

Claims with 27 insurers were settled by Manville.

November 06, 1986

The Denver-based building- and forest-products firm, which is under protection of Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, said it settled $730 million worth of claims with 27 insurance companies. Manville Corp. had sued all of its pre-1980 liability insurers and its former insurance brokers so that a court could rule how much the insurers must pay for losses stemming from the asbestos-related claims. The settlements were reached outside of court proceedings.
