Quip Star, ridden by Martin Pedroza, grabbed the lead at the furlong pole Thursday and drew off to win by 3 1/2 lengths in the $25,000 feature race for claimers at Hollywood Park.

Much Fine Gold, ridden by Corey Black, finished second, a half-length in front of Rising Chum, ridden by Gary Stevens.

American Legion, the 4-5 favorite ridden by Laffit Pincay, never threatened and finished last.
