Iranian authorities have arrested the nation's intelligence chief for leaking official secrets, an exile group opposed to Tehran's fundamentalist Islamic regime said. The leftist Moujahedeen organization said in a statement in Paris that the detention of Col. Mohammed Mehdi Katibeh is part of a recent wave of arrests in the armed forces. Neither Iranian nor independent sources immediately confirmed Katibeh's arrest, but the Moujahedeen said the wave of detentions show that Iran is in a state of internal turmoil. The Moujahedeen account did not specify what information Katibeh leaked, or to whom it was given.
