November 12, 1986

Simi Valley police were searching Tuesday for a suspect and motive in the killing of a Simi Valley woman and the wounding of a man. The victims were shot repeatedly Monday by an unknown assailant.

The woman was identified as Hope Rodriguez, 49. The man, Jose Salinas, 36, was seriously wounded in the 1:45 p.m. shooting at Salinas' house in the 5100 block of Cochran Street in Simi Valley, Lt. Bob Klamser said.

Both were shot repeatedly by a man who witnesses said then fled, Klamser said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Salinas, who suffered gunshot wounds in the upper body, was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, then transferred to another hospital that police would not name.
