For Better Living's Net Jumps for Quarter

November 13, 1986

For Better Living Inc. reported net income of $720,000 for its fiscal 1986 third quarter ended Sept. 27, more than double the $339,000 net earnings reported for the same period a year earlier.

The San Juan Capistrano company said sales for the quarter totaled $18 million, up 49% from $12.1 million for the comparable period a year ago.

For the first nine months, the diversified manufacturing and publishing company reported net income of $1.5 million, an 89% increase from $794,000 a year earlier. Sales for the nine months totaled $50 million, up 44.5% from $34.6 million.

Earlier this year, the company completed the $12.5-million acquisition of Texas-based Dalworth Construction Inc., a move that has boosted FBL's profits and sales.

In addition to making concrete and plastic products, For Better Living publishes Surfer, Powder and Sail Boarder magazines.
