Government prosecutors asked a Nicaraguan court to sentence captured American flier Eugene Hasenfus to the maximum 30 years in prison if he is found guilty of helping to supply arms to U.S.-backed contras fighting the leftist Sandinista government. In a written closing statement, prosecutor Ivan Villavicencio said Hasenfus' confession and an abundance of evidence "fully demonstrated" his guilt. Villavicencio asked the court to find Hasenfus, 45, guilty of terrorism, criminal association and violation of public security laws.
