Malaysia Lifts Ban on Asian Wall St. Journal

November 13, 1986|United Press International

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The government conceded today that its three-month ban on the Asian Wall Street Journal was illegal and lifted a suspension order on the newspaper.

Senior Federal Counsel Zalehar Zahani said the government conceded the case on technical grounds because of a "procedural lapse" and a Supreme Court decision overturning the cancellation of the work permit of one of the Journal's correspondents.
