A senior deputy district attorney has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor petty theft charges stemming from his arrest for allegedly shoplifting four ties, a pair of socks and a bottle of perfume from a Glendale department tore. A January trial date was set for Jeffrey C. Jonas, 45, one of three deputies who oversee most felony prosecutions in the downtown criminal courthouse. Jonas, who was suspended for 30 days after his July arrest, is back at work. Chief Deputy Dist. Atty. Gilbert I. Garcetti has said that no further administrative action has been planned against Jonas, because he immediately "told us of his involvement and he admitted his conduct to us."
