November 16, 1986|United Press International

MARINETTE, Wis. — "It doesn't surprise me," Eugene Hasenfus' stepmother said Saturday on hearing that he had been sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of running guns to rebels in Nicaragua.

"We pray to God their president will come through with something (like a pardon)," said Theresa Hasenfus.

"He's got to be pardoned," said his sister-in-law, Sylvia Hofherr. "He can't stay over there for 30 years."
