Construction has started on the $4-million, 45,000-square-foot EastLake Gateway building in Chula Vista's $450-million, 350-acre EastLake Business Center.

Developed by EastLake Development Co., the building was designed by Conwell-Marshall & Associates to offer a combination of single-purpose or multitenant functions for office, research and development or light manufacturing and assembly operations. Completion is scheduled for next spring.

The EastLake Business Center is part of the 3,000-acre master-planned EastLake development in the eastern part of Chula Vista. The focal point of the business park is a seven-acre employee recreation facility, the largest in San Diego County according to Jeff Phair of EastLake Development Co.
