The 18-story, $35-million Metroplex Wilshire, just completed at 3530 Wilshire Boulevard and Normandie Avenue, will serve as an entrance to one of the future Metro Rail stations.
Richard E. Oglesby, vice president of the Irvine-based developer, Business Properties Development Co., expects the new mid-Wilshire commercial project will additionally offer tenants a competitively priced alternative to downtown office space.
The building has 422,213 gross square feet with 22,092 square feet of rental space per typical floor, and the Rapid Transit District plans to position an entrance to its future Metro Rail in a portion of the building's multilevel plaza.
Designed by Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects, Los Angeles, the new structure is sheathed with reflective vision glass over a contemporary steel frame exterior.
Tutor-Saliba Corp. is the project's general contractor; others on the construction team included Robert Englekirk Inc., Los Angeles, James A. Knowles & Associates, Los Angeles and Levine/Seegel, Santa Ana.
