Mota to Compete in Tokyo Marathon

TOKYO — Olympic bronze medalist Rosa Mota of Portugal will lead a field of 10 foreign runners invited to the 1986 International Women's Marathon in Tokyo today, the Japan Amateur Athletic Federation said.

Mota won the marathon in this year's European Track and Field Championships with the third best time in history, 2 hours, 23 minutes, 29 seconds.

Other foreign runners will include defending champion Katrin Doerre of East Germany, and New Zealanders Allison Roe, winner of the 1981 Boston Marathon, and Ngaire Drake, who finished third in the Nagoya International Marathon in central Japan in 1985 and 1986.
