President Reagan's Veto of the Clean Water Act

November 22, 1986

The 99th Congress allowed Reagan $3 billion plus, for his useless toy, "Star Wars." The White House has asked for $5 billion, plus.

Reagan has now pocket-vetoed the Clean Air Act, passed unanimously by the Congress, citing the "measure's high cost." This would have been $2 1/2 billion a year for an eight-year period.

The President wants to continue fooling around with this military expensive toy. Meanwhile, the water and sewage treatment so badly needed will again be lost, possibly for years to come.

Our so-called "leadership" has failed again.
