I would like to thank you for the coverage your newspaper gave to the South Bay Hospital District election. You have helped to make the community aware of the great opportunity that the district has to serve the health care needs of its citizens.
I would also like to thank Dick Fruin and Gary Brutsch for challenging the incumbents. To have two qualified intelligent people enter the race is healthy for everyone. Unchallenged incumbency can lead to complacency--and the community is the loser. Hopefully, in years to come our elections will draw other community-minded people interested in performing community service to run for this office.
Lastly, I must thank the voters who supported me so overwhelmingly in this election. Especially gratifying was the support from Redondo Beach where I am little known. Perhaps these results will debunk the myth that one's place of residence is more important than one's qualifications.
Thank you everyone.
