Monrovia : Overnight Parking Banned

November 27, 1986

At the request of residents in the east Cypress area who are concerned about drugs and crime, the City Council has voted to impose a parking ban from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The area affected is bounded by East Cypress Avenue on the north, Los Angeles Avenue on the south, Shamrock Avenue on the east and Myrtle Avenue on the west.

A similar ban in the Monrovista-Hurstview neighborhood in the southeast corner of the city has led to reduced crime in the area, members of the city staff said.

The restrictions are not related to the recent special election in which residents voted against banning overnight parking citywide but are part of a program to help residents in high-crime areas.
