San Dimas : More Data Asked on Park

December 04, 1986

An environmental impact report on a county proposal to build residential and commercial projects in Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park is incomplete, and Supervisor Pete Schabarum has asked San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department staff members and officials from nearby cities to modify it in coming months, according to Ray Anderson, an aide to Schabarum.

The report, which has been sharply criticized by residents and officials from cities near the park for emphasizing financial gain over environmental concerns, looks at the development proposal which calls for apartments, a lodge, restaurants and an amphitheater in the park.

However, Schabarum said, the report does not adequately address environmental concerns of officials from San Dimas, Pomona, La Verne and Claremont.

The La Verne City Council has called the report "woefully inadequate" and suggested that Schabarum appoint two residents to a panel to work on the modifications.
