Printrak Sells Fingerprint Tracing System to Florida

December 14, 1986

De La Rue Printrak Inc. said it has been awarded a $21.7-million contract by a Florida law enforcement agency to install a statewide identification system using computerized fingerprints. Anaheim-based Printrak has scheduled deliveries of its Automated Fingerprint Identification System to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Tallahassee to begin in the first half of calendar 1987, although it is expected to take five years for the system to be fully operational in cities throughout the state, a company spokesman said.

The Printrak system enables law enforcement officers to match fingerprints collected at crime scenes against fingerprints of potential suspects already on file.
