Beef Goulash for Tree Trimmers : Hearty Fare Is Designed to Please Your Helpful Guests

This holiday season why not invite a few friends and relatives over to help decorate your Christmas tree? Afterwards, serve them a hearty and warming dinner of Tree Trimmers' Beef Goulash, a fresh, crip green salad, warm bread, dessert and hot cider.

Your hospitality will be appreciated by all your dinner guests. TREE TRIMMERS' BEEF GOULASH

4 cups chopped onions

2 teaspoons chopped garlic

2 tablespoons oil

2 pounds lean beef stew meat, cut in 1/2-inch cubes

1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste

3 tablespoons paprika

1 1/2 teaspoons marjoram

1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

2 (10 1/2-ounce) cans beef broth

2 cups water

3 potatoes, cut into cubes, about 1 1/2 pounds

In Dutch oven brown onions and garlic in oil over medium heat. Stir in beef, tomato paste, paprika, marjoram, caraway seeds and cayenne pepper. Add broth and heat to boiling.

Reduce heat and simmer, covered, about 1 hour. Add water and potatoes and simmer 30 minutes to 1 hour longer until beef is tender and potatoes are cooked. Makes about 8 servings.
