Chris Baker's article on the Dec. 16 game between the Clippers and Golden State Warriors states that "6,813 fans" attended the game. According to the program sold at the game, the Sports Arena has a capacity for basketball of 15,371. Based on these figures, it would seem that the arena would have been approximately 44% full for the game.
I attended that game. In my estimation, the arena was no more than 15% full. I would estimate the attendance at approximately 2,000-2,500, instead of 6,813. I suggest that Times' reporters could take a more critical look at attendance figures put out by sport teams that have ulterior motives for exaggerating attendance.
