LIMA, Peru — President Alan Garcia will take part in a ceremony in Managua to adopt a new Nicaraguan constitution next week, the official news agency Andina said Saturday.

It said the Peruvian president would go to Managua on Friday and quoted him as praising the new constitution.

"We have always affirmed our solidarity in the fight of a people who suffer public aggression, visible and brazen," Garcia said, referring to U.S. support for the contras opposing Nicaragua's Sandinista regime.
