Conflict Prompts Discussion of Election Dates

January 11, 1987

The Los Angeles City Council's charter and election committee will discuss the scheduling of city elections at a meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting was prompted by the fact that the April 14 council primary coincides with Passover. Jewish leaders have complained about the conflict, but the City Charter stipulates that the election must take place on the second Tuesday in April.

The committee will discuss ways to avoid future election date conflicts. The public meeting will convene at the Robertson Recreation Center, 1641 Preuss Road, West Los Angeles.
