Gardena : Zoning Variances OKd

South Bay Digest

January 15, 1987

The City Council has approved zoning variances allowing construction of five additional units at an apartment complex on Gardena Boulevard and permitting an adjacent commercial office project to provide fewer parking spaces than required by the code.

Merchants along Gardena Boulevard, once the major business district of the city, hope that the project--which will renovate a former Bank of America building--will be the first step toward revitalization of the area.

Developer Pete McCarroll had said that he needed to construct the additional apartment units to offset the cost of developing the commercial building.
