Comedian Cheech Marin to Appear at Fund-Raiser Rally for Hospital

Actor/comedian Cheech Marin will appear at Baby Doe's restaurant in Monterey Park at a rally to raise funds for Santa Marta Hospital in East Los Angeles. The rally, to begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 28, is for volunteers who will sell raffle tickets to benefit the 110-bed general acute care hospital, emergency room and clinic which has served East L.A. since 1924.

Winner of the raffle will receive the 1955 coral and ivory Chevy convertible that appeared in Marin's music video, "Born in East L.A." The car will be first prize in a drawing to be held on May 21. Second prize will be a trip for two to the Mexican coastal resort of their choice; third prize, 100 California Lottery tickets.

The '55 Chevy will be on display at Baby Doe's restaurant, 3700 Ramona Blvd., Monterey Park, Jan. 28-31. For more information on purchasing raffle tickets or for an invitation to the rally at Baby Doe's, please call (213) 260-8686 or stop by the restaurant while the car is being displayed to talk to a hospital volunteer.
