Orange County Prep Soccer : Moran's Goal Lifts Fullerton Over Troy

Luis Moran scored with three minutes left to lead Fullerton High School to a 2-1 victory over Troy in a Freeway League boys' soccer match Wednesday at Fullerton.

Sergio Villegas scored for the Indians (2-1, 4-7-2) in the first half. Brian Knispel scored for Troy in the second half, and goalkeeper Mark Champine made 15 saves for Fullerton.

The loss was the first of the season for the Warriors, who dropped to 2-1 in league and 12-1-2 overall.

Sunny Hills 3, Sonora 1--Steve Fichtelberg scored twice for Sunny Hills (2-1, 7-2) on a penalty kick and a header. Kevin Munson provided the third Lancer goal at Sunny Hills. Sonora dropped to 2-1 in the Freeway League. After a scoreless tie at halftime, Sonora scored on an own goal.

In the Century League:

Canyon 2, El Modena 1--Ron Fernie scored two goals to lead the Comanches (3-0, 13-7) at El Modena. Luke Samson scored, and goalkeeper Ed Hill provided 10 saves for the Vanguards.

Santa Ana 2, Foothill 0--Serasin Deleon and Rene Munoz each scored to lead the Saints (1-1-1) at Foothill. The Knights are 1-2 in league, 5-3 overall.

Villa Park 3, Santa Ana Valley 1--Aaron Hichman and Jeremy Amen each scored a goal to lead the Spartans, 2-0-1 in league. Hichman's goal, off a pass by Amen, gave Villa Park a 2-1 lead. Brian Wilson added the third goal off a corner kick.

In the Garden Grove League:

Bolsa Grande 4, Garden Grove 3--Randy Reynaga scored two goals and Sonny Nguyen and Fernando Cueva one each to lead the Matadors (3-1, 6-7) at Bolsa Grande. Garden Grove, which dropped to 0-2-2 in league, was led by Mike Frey (two goals) and Bryan Rodgnkirk (one).

Los Amigos 2, La Quinta 0--Scott McLure and Tito Galdez led the Lobos with first-half goals at Los Amigos. Goalkeeper David Lovvorn provided nine saves for Los Amigos (1-2-1 in league). La Quinta is 3-1.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 2, Woodbridge 1--Brian Fleming scored two goals to lead the Hawks (3-0, 12-3-2) at Laguna Hills. Matt Evans scored for Woodbridge (1-1-1, 5-5-2). Goalkeeper Kevin Casagranda had nine saves for Laguna Hills, and Mike Goodman had 16 saves for Woodbridge.

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 1, Tustin 1--Pat Merrell scored two minutes into the game for the Sea Kings (1-1-1, 4-4-2) at Tustin. Kevin Villar scored on a header off a corner kick for the Tillers (1-0-2, 8-4-3).

Newport Harbor 3, Saddleback 0--Shaun Jarrard scored two goals and Tom Walker added one to lead the Sailors (3-0, 9-3-2) at Saddleback. Royce Hudson made five saves, recording his fourth shutout. Saddleback is 0-2-1 in league.

In Orange League girls' action:

Valencia 5, Anaheim 0--Kameron Sweeney scored three goals to lead the Tigers (2-0, 9-6-1) at Anaheim. Tricia Smaldino and Allison Hook each scored for Valencia.

Brea-Olinda 4, Western 0--Sandy Tennison, Teresa Schueppert, Shanna Neely and Carrie Lewis scored for Brea Olinda (3-0, 5-4-1).
