Luree Miller's Dec. 7 article caught my eyes with the dateline: Cercy-La-Tour, and memories of its market day. In August, 1979, my husband and I were joined by another couple for our third and their first canal boat trip. Our 35-foot boat had two cabins, and in between, the galley, shower, etc. In '79 the Canal de Nivernais (France) was not as well-maintained as other canals we had been on. From the article I assume maintenance of towpath, etc., must have improved a bit. This year we hope to take our tenth canal trip.
