Surrogate mother Mary Beth Whitehead, fighting to keep the baby she bore under a $10,000 contract, was under stress and anxiety from her landmark case when she visited a psychiatric center in October, her counselor testified. Superior Court Judge Harvey R. Sorkow ruled that counselor Richard McDonald could testify in the Hackensack, N.J., court because the needs of the baby outweighed the Whiteheads' right to privacy.
