Los Amigos 63, Garden Grove 59 (OT)--J. J. Jenkins scored six of the Lobos' eight points in overtme at home. Jenkins finished with 10 points. Jim McGee had 10 points and 10 assists. All five Los Amigos (5-3, 14-9) starters scored in double figures.
La Quinta 62, Santiago 51--Junior forward Ari Buford scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Aztecs improved to 6-2 with the homecourt victory. Six-foot 10-inch center Brian Joe added 16 points and 8 rebounds for La Quinta while Santiago (0-8) was paced by Peter Avila's 18 points.
In the Olympic League:
Valley Christian 67, Orange Lutheran 50--Ryan Reinstra scored 23 points to lead Valley Christian at Cerritos. Geoff McArthur had 23 for the Lancers.
In the Orange League:
Magnolia 65, Savanna 49--Victor Banuelos scored 24 points and Mark Lyon added 19 to lead the Sentinels to the victory at Savanna.
The Sentinels (7-1, 16-4) also got 13 points from Mike Goff. Savanna (3-5, 5-15) was led by Richard Kemple, who had 14 points; Shane Painter (12 points) and Jay Turner (10).
Valencia 65, Anaheim 30--Dennis Burbank scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers at home. Valencia (6-2, 16-5) outrebounded Anaheim, 38-16.
Bernie James scored 10 points and Mike Kies 11 for Valencia.
Earnest Johnston scored 14 points for Anaheim.
Brea-Olinda 74, Western 58--The Wildcats outscored the Pionners, 22-5, in the second quarter and went on to win easily at Brea.
Center Bob Terry led Brea with 25 points and forward Mike Thorum added 15.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 73, Costa Mesa 58--Senior forward Scott Herdman scored 29 points to lead the Artists (3-5, 7-14). Rob Appel scored had 18 for Laguna Beach.
Tom Morris scored 13 for the Mustangs (0-8).
Woodbridge 69, Laguna Hills 60--Center Adam Keefe scored 23 points and forward Vince Bryan added 18 as the Warriors won at Laguna Hills. Laguna Hills led, 37-33, midway in the third quarter when Woodbridge scored five straight to take the lead for good. Chris Sheff led Laguna Hills with 23 and Mike Smedes added 13.
In the Sunset League:
Ocean View 84, Huntington Beach 54--Doug Rice scored 11 points, Mike Frohn 13 and Todd Norman 12 as the Seahawks (5-3, 16-5) won their fourth consecutive league game.
Marina 63, Westminster 57--Mike Meyers scored 26 points and Steve Guild added 19 as the Vikings clinched at least a tie for the league championship at Marina. Tom Dever led the Lions with 22.
In girls' basketball:
La Quinta 59, Santiago 21--Senior point guard Kris Takayama scored 26 points and had 8 assists and junior forward Cindy Kollar added 17 points and 17 rebounds in the Aztecs' Garden Grove League victory at La Quinta.
The Aztecs (8-0, 15-5), who have won nine games in a row, led 31-1 at the half. Takayama finished 12 of 13 from the field.
Ilona Goddard had nine points to lead Santiago.
Liberty Christian 42, Newport Christian 33--Donna Nikisch and Sharron Crouch scored 15 points each for the Minutemen (9-2, 14-2) in their Academy League victory at Newport Christian. Danielle Everett scored 12 points for the Conquerors (2-8, 2-11). Earlier this season, Liberty defeated Newport Christian, 62-11.
St. Magaret's 55, Elliott Pope 16--Joanna Diersbock scored 17 points and Jennifer Morris added 14 in St. Magaret's Collegiate League victory.
