American violinist Isaac Stern, performing with the San Francisco Symphony under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt, drew enthusiastic cheers Wednesday evening at the Theatre Musical de Paris. The one-night-only program delighted the sold-out Parisian audience who showered the 105-person orchestra with unison clapping, the ultimate sign of approval in France. "I'm absolutely thrilled," Blomstedt, 59, told the Associated Press. "It's obvious they liked us."
