An investigation of an alleged sexual assault led to the arrests of three men after officers "stumbled" onto more than $1 million worth of cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Six pounds of cocaine, two pounds of marijuana and about $8,000 in cash were seized Sunday after police searched two apartments on the 9000 block of Imperial Highway, said Downey police Detective Dave Kelly.
Police were investigating an alleged sexual assault on a 13-year-old Inglewood girl at one of the apartments when they discovered some narcotics and obtained a search warrant, Kelly said.
Andre Levine Bryant, 22, of Downey was booked for investigation of possessing cocaine for sale, Kelly said. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. James Bernard Ransom, 25, of Downey was booked for investigation of committing a lewd act with a child under the age of 14. He was released on $7,500 bail.
Eric Lynn Thomas, 30, of Downey was arrested for an unrelated parole violation and remained in custody Tuesday, Kelly said.
