Heigh-Ho! Heigh-Ho! It's Off to 'Snow White' We Go

February 28, 1987|ELLEN MELINKOFF

An original production of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" opens this afternoon at the Assistance League Playhouse in Hollywood and runs weekends through March 29.

The latest in a series of productions by the Nine O'Clock Players (the league auxiliary that includes many theater professionals), is a fully costumed, 18-character production with original music by Carol Weiss.

The hour-and-a-half production is suitable for older preschoolers. Children especially like the after-performance tradition of the cast joining members of the audience for a chat on the playhouse patio. Cast members, still in costume and make-up, sign the children's programs in their characters' names. There is also a short intermission when juice is served.

"Snow White" begins at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Assistance League Playhouse, 1370 N. St. Andrews Place, Hollywood. The box office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations: (213) 469-1970. Tickets are $4. The players welcome children's birthday parties to performances; a clown welcomes the birthday child and his friends before the curtain rises.
