The owners of two California tuna boats were fined for violating Mexican territorial waters and the Mexican government moved to confiscate the 70-ton catch of one, the Karen Kristie of San Diego. Both boats were seized by a Mexican Navy vessel last week. The owner of the Karen Kristie was fined $1,800, while the owner of the San Pedro-based Laurie Anne, which had no fish in it, was fined $6,345.
