Arizona Loses Meeting for Ending King Holiday

March 03, 1987|Associated Press

BOSTON — The National Black Nurses Assn. said Monday that it is moving its annual convention out of Arizona this year because that state's governor rescinded a state holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Instead of Phoenix, the Boston-based group's 15th national conference, focusing on nursing education, will be held Aug. 6-9 in Los Angeles, said Fadako Holmes, the association's executive director.
