In your letter section (Westside, Feb. 2), Louis B. Marienthal complained about the closing of Rexford Drive at the cross-section of Santa Monica Boulevard. He cites all sorts of invalid reasons why it should not be closed. He fails to mention that Hawthorne School, an elementary school and kindergarten, is located in the 600 block and the cars from the Valley came down at great speed through narrow Rexford Drive endangering the lives of children. That Marienthal forgot to mention in his inept letter saying the closing of Rexford is not a trivial matter. I agree with him. It is not a trivial matter. It is an important, essential matter that Rexford stays closed.
