AirCal Shows 38% Increase in Revenue Passenger Miles

AirCal, the Newport Beach-based regional airline, on Monday reported flying 190.8 million revenue passenger miles in February, an increase of 38.5% over February of last year. A revenue passenger mile, the basic measure of an airline's volume, is one paying passenger flying one mile. The carrier's load factor--the percentage of seats filled by paying passengers--fell to 53.4% from 54.2% in the year-ago period.

For the first two months of the year, revenue passenger miles totaled 383.3 million, an increase of 33.4% over the previous year, and the load factor was 51.1%, down from 53.4% in 1986.
