In reply to the letter from Gilbert McEwen "Development on Whittier Hillsides," (Southeast/Long Beach sections, March 8), I agree in part regarding cutting up our hillsides, since I played in the hills as a boy.
However, this is 1987, and growth isn't all bad. It needs control, yes.
My father started our furniture business in Uptown Whittier in 1932 and I have worked in this business since I was 10.
