The piece by Elizabeth Mehren on Norman Corwin and his father, Sam--"Father, Son Retain a 60-Year Phone Ritual" (March 1)--was of special interest to me for I have long admired Norman Corwin and consider his book, "Trivializing America," one of the most important books of our time.
What a wonderful relationship he has had with his father! It is certainly one which could well be a model in these times of troubled families and emulated by fathers having difficulty in reaching out and touching their children. I wonder if Sam Corwin's positive approach to his son as well as to his other children isn't one of the key factors in his longevity? He certainly relishes his years and makes me want to exclaim Mazel Tov !
