Woody Allen says in the April issue of Esquire magazine the Oscar-nominated "Blue Velvet" is his pick for best picture this year. "I just liked everything about it," said Allen, who directed "Hannah and Her Sisters," which is competing with director David Lynch's "Velvet." Allen also speculated about swearing off film making in favor of book writing. "I almost feel I'd like to do that now . . . to get up in the morning and not have to get picked up by the Teamster and go out to the set and deal with everybody. It'd be fun just to lollygag around the house, and practice the clarinet, and writing."
