Police were searching for a man who raped and robbed a 25-year-old woman early Wednesday morning at her workplace in an industrial complex in the south end of the city, authorities said.
Police Detective John Armstrong said the man entered the woman's workplace at about 4 a.m., while she was alone preparing newspapers for delivery. The man then forced her at knifepoint to leave the building and go to an area nearby, where he raped her and took her purse containing some cash, Armstrong said.
"Aside from the mental and physical trauma, she was not seriously injured," Armstrong said.
The attacker was described as black, 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, with short Afro-style hair. He may have been injured during a struggle with the victim, Armstrong said.
