Ground to Be Broken in June for Medical Center at USC

March 22, 1987

Ground is expected to be broken in June, with construction starting in the spring of 1988, on a $105-million medical-center complex for USC.

A project of National Medical Enterprises, the complex will include a 283-bed teaching hospital and ambulatory care center, research center, multilevel parking structure and hotel for patients' families, outpatients and visiting physicians.

Rees Associates Inc., based in Oklahoma City, and W. Ted Tyler & Associates of Santa Ana will jointly design the USC University Hospital, and Los Angeles-based Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects will design the 65,000-square-foot ambulatory care center. The project will be bounded by Alcazar, San Pablo, Norfolk and Ground streets, near the County-USC Medical Center.
