March 24, 1987|From Reuters

WASHINGTON — The White House on Monday shrugged off a threat by Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi to install Soviet nuclear missiles along his coast if the United States again attacks his country.

"We have heard statements like that before. He has on numerous occasions threatened various relationships with the Soviet Union," spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said.

He said Kadafi remains a continuing threat and added that the U.S. attitude toward the Libyan has not changed.
