Azusa : School District Switch OKd

March 26, 1987

The Azusa Unified School District board has given up its fight to keep about 70 homes on its northeastern boundary within the district and voted to transfer them into the Glendora Unified School District, effective July 1.

Kathleen Miller, an administrative assistant with the district, said the board's unanimous vote affects homes in the area from Citrus Avenue east to Barranca Avenue and from Bennett Avenue south to Foothill Boulevard.

Azusa Supt. Duane E. Stiff said the state Board of Education last month ordered the district to hold a special election to decide the issue after the district turned down a request for the transfer from a majority of homeowners in the disputed area. The Azusa district voted for the transfer to avoid the cost of holding the special election in November.
