All-Star Games Move to Bren Center

The Orange County boys' and girls' All-Star basketball games will be played in UC Irvine's Bren Center June 20, game organizers said Thursday.

The games, sponsored by the Costa Mesa Kiwanis Club, have been played in Orange Coast College's Peterson Gym, which seats about 2,200. The Bren Center has a capacity of 5,000.

The 22nd boys' game will feature All-American center LeRon Ellis of Mater Dei High School on the North team and all-state selections Ricky Butler of Ocean View and Mark Georgeson of Marina on the South. The North team has won three straight games.

The South team has seven players who have signed with Division I colleges.

Steve Brooks of Los Alamitos will coach the North team and Steve Popovich of Marina will coach the South team.

Guards Carrie Egan of Brea-Olinda and Cindy Vyskocil of Whitter Christian head the selections for the 10th girls' game.
