ON THE COVER

April 26, 1987

The locale is a London suburb in the early '60s. A government security official asks a woman if she will allow her home to be used as a lookout post during an espionage investigation. In effect, she must spy on her close friend and neighbor.

Thus is the stage set for "Pack of Lies," a fact-based spy story to be told on "Hallmark Hall of Fame" Sunday on CBS (9-11 p.m., Channels 2 and 8).

Ellen Burstyn, Teri Garr and Alan Bates head the cast of the drama that was filmed on location in England. It is based on the stage play by Hugh Whitemore. Anthony Page directed.
