Troy Canty, the first of four youths shot by Bernhard H. Goetz on a New York subway train two years ago, testified that some things he has said during the attempted murder trial differ from what he told a grand jury two years ago. Canty said he might have told the grand jury that he said, "Give me five dollars," rather than, "Mister, can I have five dollars?" Canty also told the grand jury that he was so close to Goetz when he spoke that Goetz took a step backward. Canty testified instead that he was several feet from Goetz at the time.
