Auto Litter

May 12, 1987

Ronald B. Adler of Tarzana (Letters, May 6) wants to know why drivers flip their cigarettes out of their car windows instead of using their ashtrays. They do this simply because they do not wish to associate themselves with drivers who do use their ashtrays--filling them to the overflowing point and then casually dumping the contents onto a parking lot. The two problems could easily be solved, however, if both types of driver would just quit smoking.
