Italian police raided an estimated 100 homes and made several arrests in an anti-terrorism operation in cities throughout the country, police sources said. Documents and a number of weapons were seized during raids in Naples, Rome and Venice, the sources added. The sweeps apparently were a continuation of an offensive in Italy and Spain last month against a resurgent left-wing terrorism in which 14 people were arrested on suspicion of belonging to factions of the Red Brigades guerrilla group.
