Polaroid unveiled four research programs.

In a technical symposium held before the company's annual meeting in Wellesley, Mass., Polaroid officials highlighted four core research programs: high-density information storage, silver halide imaging, innovative organic chemistry and semiconductor laser technology. I. MacAllister Booth, president and chief executive, said that about three-fourths of the company's research and engineering resources will be devoted to instant imaging. Booth also announced a program aimed at nearly eliminating toxic emissions to the environment within the next five years.
