NASHVILLE — Gov. Ned McWherter snacked on ice cream and pickles Thursday after signing a maternity leave measure into law.
The law requires business owners with more than 100 employees to provide full-time pregnant workers a four-month, unpaid leave if they have been on the job for at least a year and give a three-month notice. "It's very very pro-family . . . and reasonable as far as industry is concerned," McWherter said. "It's in the interest of mothers in Tennessee. . . ."
